History of the School
St. John’s Higher Secondary School was established on 03rd June 1991 by educationist and philanthropist Dr. G. John Peter, MA, MEd, Phd on 8.38 acres of land in the village of Sithanangoor with two thatched sheds erected. The building was blessed and declared open by Most Rev Dr. A. Neethinathan. The first board of trustees was Mr. Gnanapragasam, Mrs. Annamal, the parents of the founder and Mrs. Francisca Sagayamary, MA, BEd, the wife of the founder. On the first day of opening there were 8 students and in the end of the year it rose to 58.
First Batch of SSLC students (1993):
The first batch of SSLC students appeared for Govt. examination in March 1993. Congratulations! All the students appeared passed with flying colours and the school carried 100% results. It was widely appreciated by District Collector that a school running in a rural area for the first time carrying 100% results
Starting of Primary School (1994):
Earlier, the classes were conducted only for students from 6th standard to High School (10th standard). In the year 1994, primary school (Kindergarten till 5th standard) was started. Mrs. Fransisca Sagayamary was appointed as the Headmistress of the school, with her sole talent and hard work brought the school to an exceptional standard.
Starting of Higher Secondary (1996):
We felt that our students who complete high school had found difficult to get admissions in higher secondary schools elsewhere. So, we upgraded our school in to Higher Secondary in the year 1996.
Present Situation (2015-2016):
Today, with all help from donors, benefactors, well wishers there are 283 students from Primary School, 650 students from Higher Secondary with 16 teaching staff
